Year 3: River Soar Health Station

To design a building which is sympathetic to it's site above a Canal lock. It is a walk in health station, therefore must be inviting and accessible to the public. The site was also required to provide living quarters for a single custodian who conducts both research and assistance to the public.

Made from modelling foam, white card, balsa wood and painted white.
Digital site model built in SketchUp.
Presentation sheets showing the buildings influence from narrow boats which frequent the lock below.
AutoCad drawing showing the boat influence in construction. The shape of the roof allows north light to filter in while the central void allows light under the building to allow illumination and continual use of the lock.
