Year 1: Studio for day dreaming

First project completed during the first year of the architectural degree. This work has been included as it helps establish my early abilities, becoming a reference for the progression through my part 1. The brief asked for a studio for a single occupant. It would adjoin the pre-existing teaching space and would become the living quarters and study space where a visiting academic could work and continue their research.

Space descends so that when the inhabitant
is sitting at the desk (behind the
entrance) they can look out
and become apart of the foliage
rather than, so often the case, being
being on an elevation above it.

The proposal is a timber construction with oak
paneling interior. A mezzanine floor acts as a resting area to read
with plenty of illumination from the roof-light.
